Tips For The Pharmacist To Improve Trust & Relations With Doctor’s/Physician’s


 1. Pharmacist is a companion of the Physician

  2. A good relationship between the Pharmacist & Doctor/Physician is very important as it not only mutually beneficial for them but also for the Patients.

 3. Pharmacist is a crucial link between Physician’s advice & Patient’s well-being & the final check on the safety of medicines.

 4. Pharmacist is a counselor on the merits & demerits of different therapeutic agents.

5. Pharmacist’s must take out time from their schedule to meet the Doctor’s/Physicians once or twice in a month in order to get feedback from them & to answer their queries & guide them.

6. Pharmacist has to act as a responsible caregiver by establishing an open relationship with the Patients & the Doctor/Physician & ensure that the drug therapy achieves the expected results. He has to evaluate the need desired outcome & success of the therapy while providing Pharmaceutical care.

 7. Pharmacist should avoid substituting the brands of medicines prescribed by Doctors; if they want to do so they should call up the concerned Doctor/Physician & ask for his approval o do so.

8. The Pharmacist has to develop an open & congenial relationship with the Doctor to organize his activities & perform his duties & functions according to the drug therapy needs of the patient.

9. The Pharmacist should help the Doctor by providing the drug related details of the Patients to him & actively participate in the treatment planning of the Patient.

10. The Pharmacist can assist the Doctor in assessing the progress of the therapy.

 11. The Pharmacist should advantageously utilize his knowledge & professional skill to evaluate the deficiencies, if any, in achieving drug therapy & discuss the same with the doctor. This will surely help to optimize resource utilization & improvement of quality care of Patients.

12. Both Doctor & Pharmacist should act in a responsible manner to effectively deliver the health care services. They should avoid blaming each other for the deficiencies but provide for suitable and effective solutions to the problems that may arise time to time while performing their professional duties.
